LPG - ecology for everyone

LPG

LPG is an alternative to gasoline energy source powering cars. It is gaining popularity, due to lower than gasoline price. Its popularization is driven by two factors: economy and ecology. Let s see whether cars powered with LPG actually allow us to save money and protect the environment. Combustion technology of LPG is exactly the same as in the traditional combustion engine, you only need to set up a special installation in the car and to make space in the trunk for a tank in which gas will be stored. So where do we save, if after all, we just spent a large amount to set up the installation? Gas is still cheaper (although the difference is less than in the past) than gasoline. It is estimated that the decline in expenditure on fuel could be as high as 50% compared to traditional gasoline.
However, it is not as good as it sounds. Combustion of the gas causes an increased excretion of water vapor, which in turn results in faster emergence of corrosion in the exhaust system. There are more of such examples. So it seems that a lot depends on the type of car and how quickly we will feel the faster wear out of engine parts. Besides, even if we have the LPG installation system, we still need gasoline, because it is desirable to run the engine with its help, and only after it has warmed up to start the gas injection.
Let us now turn to the ecological aspect. LPG gas has a lower sulfur content and, in general, unlike traditional gasoline, does not contain lead, so does not expel them it the atmosphere. This is a definite plus. But keep in mind that petrol is also changing and is adapted to environmental standards, and thus also the sulfur content decreases. A generation of LPG system is of great importance, these from the first one, in fact, have higher emissions than the traditional gasoline powered vehicles. If you do care about the ecology, you should select, of course, more expensive installation of the latest generation.
The definite advatage of LPG is less carbon dioxide emission, and that is main concern of environmentalists. In this respect, the LPG-powered car beats the gasoline powered one. Environmental performance of LPG-powered vehicles is quite ambiguous. They are organic, if are of the new generation, unfortunately, about 70% of vehicles with such a source of energy on our roads have the installation of the first and second generation, which may prove more harmful to the environment than gasoline powered cars.
